Michael J Podhajsky, JCL

My journey to Canon Law was born out of my lifelong passion for service to God and the Church. As an Iowa native, I earned my bachelor of arts degree in Spanish at Loras College and St. Pius X Seminary in Dubuque. I then attended the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC where I completed my Master's of Theology in 2003 before being ordained a priest of the Latin Rite Church.

After several assignments as an associate pastor, I was given the opportunity to return to the Catholic University of America to earn my Licentiate in Canon Law. I completed this degree in 2011 and returned to the diocese to begin work in the Tribunal as well as parish ministry.

After thirteen years in active ministry, my life took a turn and I left ministry to pursue a calling to married life. Since 2018 I have privately practiced Canon Law. I am a member in good standing with the Canon Law Society of America. I look forward to assisting you with your canonical issues.

The purpose of the Code of Canon Law is “to create such an order in the ecclesial society that, while assigning the primacy to love, grace and charisms, it at the same time renders their organic development easier in the life of both the ecclesial society and the individual persons who belong to it."

Pope Saint John Paul II, Sacrae Disciplinae Leges
